Is the Dollar iPad Offer Legit?
The Jury is Still Out
Can you really get a $1 dollar ipad? The jury is still out at this time. In the past, there have been many similar offers for a "Free iPod" or other such device, like an Xbox or Wii entertainment console, and the vast majority of people who sign up do not receive the item advertised because there are multiple hoops to jump through, sometimes including the purchase of free trial offers that end up billing your credit card, or the requirement that you have to get several friends to also sign up for the free item, but nobody qualifies for it due to the complicated nature of the process. In other cases, you might get a free iPod because you signed up for an offer that is quite expensive and in excess of what it would cost you to go out and buy one yourself. You also don't know if you're getting a new, refurbished, or counterfeit product. The fine print may also allow for substitutions which means you might get an awful knockoff. One thing these offers have in common is that you sign away your privacy rights, so just about anyone can use the information collected to spam you with all kinds of other freebies. While responding to the iPad for a dollar offer may or may not get you placed on a sucker list, you should always be careful with your personal information.
